Prayer Hands in Flag Colors

America’s strength, beauty and diversity are fueled in great part by our legacy of welcoming immigrants. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Department of Justice (DOJ) have, however, set the wheels in motion for criminalizing and forcibly separating families who are simply seeking protection in the United States. In accordance with their new “zero tolerance” policy announced in early May 2018, parents traveling with minor children are being prosecuted as criminals. When parents are prosecuted, they are separated from their children, and the children are sent to the shelters and foster care managed by the Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR). This new policy is a reflection of the dark days that refugees and asylum seekers now face in this country. Please send a message to Congress today to protect immigrant children and families seeking safety and shelter from violence. #KeepFamiliesTogether.

Prayer for Migrants, Refugees and Asylum Seekers

God, no one is stranger to you

And no one is ever far from your loving care.

In your kindness watch over migrants, refugees and asylum seekers,

Those separated from their loved ones,

Those who are lost

And those who have been exiled from their homes.

Bring them safely to the place where they long to be,

And help us always to show your kindness to strangers

And those in need.

We ask this through Christ our Lord,

Who too was a refugee and migrant

Who travelled to another land

Searching for a home.

Amen
